The style is similar to the previous edition, but it's been optimised for touch (and if you install the package on Windows 8, can now be controlled via a Metro app). Support for hardware acceleration should improve its responsiveness, too.
The program does also provide improvements in protection, although they're mostly out of sight. The Insight file reputation database is now updated more rapidly, for instance; Insight technology has been incorporated into the firewall to "improve the ability to detect and block malicious network activity"; SONAR now works in Safe Mode to detect more threats via their behaviour; and Internet Security 2013 can work with new Windows 8 technology which allows it to launch earlier in the boot process, so better protecting you from rootkits, malicious drivers and similar low-level threats.
And in a relatively minor (though still useful) tweak, Norton Internet Security 2013 actually downloads and installs Norton Power Eraser for you. And as a result, if a scan completes, and you follow the "If you think there are still risks, click here" link, you're not left to sort things out yourself: you're able to launch Norton Power Eraser with a click to (hopefully) find and remove any particularly stubborn threats.
The other addition this time is what Symantec call "Bandwidth Monitoring", which they say "will help consumers avoid costly data overage fees by limiting non-critical updates on bandwidth sensitive networks". This seems to be represented by a new setting (Settings > Network > Network Security Settings > Network Cost Awareness) which allows you to set a policy to govern how the program uses a particular network connection. Options are "No Limit" (do what you want), "No Traffic" (don't use this connection at all), or "Economy": if this is some expensive 3G connection, say, Norton Internet Security 2013 will use it only to download the most critical program and virus definition updates.
Put it all together and the new release represents a very significant improvement for Windows 8 users, more of a gently incremental change for everybody else. Still, despite being a first beta Norton Internet Security 2013 seemed fairly solid and reliable to us, and if you're interested in the program then it's definitely worth a look. Just keep in mind that disasters are always possible with such early builds, so don't install it on any system unless it's fully protected with complete and regular backups.

Bitdefender Total Security 2013 BETA is an early version of the company's most powerful security suite. And we do mean "powerful", because it's absolutely packed with features and functionality.
You get everything you'd expect in a security suite, of course: on-demand and real-time antivirus protection, a spam filter, firewall, privacy tools, browsing protection, online backup, file encryption and more. But that's just the start - the suite has also been extended with plenty of new ideas.
Safepay, for instance, is an isolated browser which runs in a secure desktop, with a virtual keyboard. It automatically launches when it detects you're visiting banking, payment or other sensitive sites to help ensure your transaction details stay safe.
Anti-Theft is a new web service which allows you to find the location of a computer on a map, to lock it remotely or wipe all the data it contains.
The USB Immunizer aims to make your USB flash keys "immune to autorun malware". We've yet to test this - and most similar tools aren't quite as powerful as they claim - but it's still an interesting addition to the suite.
If you're put off by the complexity of this kind of suite, then you may appreciate Bitdefender's new Autopilot: essentially it's a "leave me alone" mode where the program doesn't hassle you with popups and alerts, instead managing your system entirely automatically. (Which sounds like a "game mode" to us, but Total Security 2013 has one of those as well: it seems the Autopilot is even more encompassing.)
And all of this is presented in a brand new interface. This seemed a little confusing at first, but once we figured out the basics then it's all fairly straightforward: launch the main console from a system tray icon, view your security status at a glance, launch a scan with a click, or browse through the various modules to tweak settings or perform some action. It's all reasonably familiar.
Unsurprisingly, Bitdefender Total Security 2013 really isn't designed to run alongside other security suites. These will generally be detected at installation, with the program refusing to proceed until your existing solution has been removed.
And while the program seemed fairly solid to us, keep in mind that it is a first public beta. And bugs in this kind of low-level application could have very serious effects on your system, so don't even think of installing it on a system unless you have a full and recent backup available.
Otherwise, though, Bitdefender Total Security 2013 BETA looks like a promising package, well worth a look. And if you're willing to take the time to report any bugs you find as well, keep in mind that Bitdefender are offering prizes to the most active beta testers, including an Asus B121 12.1 inch Tablet, an Acer Aspire S3 13.3 inch Ultrabook, a Nokia Lumia 900, and 100x Bitdefender Internet Security 2013 licenses for 6 months.

Solution for Activating AVG Internet Security 2012

Like before, AVG Internet Security 2012 can also be activated with full features till 2018. All you have to do is follow the features:

• Install AVG Internet Security 2012 Trial which you can download from here
• Or If you have installed the previous version of AVG Internet Security 2011 you can upgrade to AVG Internet Security 2012 by downloading the trial version which you can find in the first point.
• During installation you would be asked to enter the License code which you can find here
• If you are upgrading from AVG Internet Security 2011 then you would be upgraded automatically. Just don’t change the code specified when you are activating from AVG Internet Security 2011with activation till 2018.

• Install AVG Internet Security 2012 Trial which you can download from here
• During installation you would be asked to enter the License code. Use the default code provided by AVG.
  
• After the downloading and installation have finished. Open up AVG Interface
• Update it with latest definition
• Now, go here and follow the steps and enter the code provided.
• If done properly, your AVG Internet Security 2012 would be activated till 2018.

Enjoy Free Antivirus Security Till 2018 with Full Features

Since the wide spread global acceptance and usage of internet, malware programs, spywares and viruses have become a constant source of threats for the computers while only option available to the net surfers is anti virus software programs.

During the analysis period, one of my friends came to my help and advised me to get the AVG Internet Security with validity up to 2018 and after installation and activation, I found that the code worked and I got the validation upto 2018.

• First of all you need the AVG free version or Internet Security 2011 trial version which you can download from here (www.avg.com)

• After installation, run AVG and go to help menu and click activate.

• In the pop-up menu, enter this code:

• Click ‘activate’

• Another dialog box will appear saying, “Your new AVG Software License gives you access to additional features. Do you want to install them?”, click ‘yes’

• Now the installation of new features will start and after the installation completes, run AVG and your Antivirus would be upgraded to ‘AVG Internet Security’ with validation upto 2018.

Update: December 10, 2011

Some people complained about the above given code not working. Well! I downloaded a fresh cope of AVG Internet Security 2012 used the code provided above to activate the AVG and it worked.
